Bio
Ryan Hipp is a published author-illustrator of books for kids and a life-long resident of Grand Rapids, MI. He is the Illustrator Coordinator of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI-MI). Ryan believes drawing and writing should be obtainable for kids everywhere, and is dedicated to helping kids achieve their goals. Ryan actively gives presentations on fostering creativity in young people. As an avid comics historian and fundamentalist, he also gives hands-on comics-creating workshops for teens, as well as “teaching with comics” sessions for teachers, librarians and media specialists. One of Ryan’s books, “A Curious Glimpse of Michigan”, was nominated for the 2005 “Great Lakes, Great Books Award”. Ryan’s whimsical art has appeared on the cover of “On-the-Town Magazine”, and in 2009, Ryan held top rankings in the inaugural ArtPrize. Ryan cares about animals, loves comic books, science fiction & fantasy, collecting toys, playing video games, and skateboarding.
