Crash Go Boom (archive)

Posted on 23 April 2010

So last night, I went to the Museum during the windstorm. This is the last week of ArtPrize and my work is still on display. Like many other ArtPrize artists learned, last night the winds placed their votes for ArtPrize. When I arrived, I was not expecting to see one of my ArtPrize pieces snapped from its wire and laying on the concrete face up. The frame took a hard smack on its side and the artwork will have to be re-stretched. There are scuffs all around the sides too, but the image surface is luckily fine. But its still a bummer! So I took the piece inside; the security office folks were nice enough to let me bring it in for the night, and then I went home. Today I found out that a second one fell in the night! Oh man, why didn’t I see that coming? The winds were just so strong. Today I am going to the Museum to bring them all indoors for the remaining time for ArtPrize. I am lucky the front of the images are unhurt, it will just be a little pain to polish them back up.

Many people have been asking me “what are you going to do with your work now that ArtPrize is over?” And the truth is, I am not even sure myself. I had around 4 offers for individual pieces, but I ultimately want to first try and keep them together if possible. I am going to let the Museum have an opportunity as well.
