Ryan's ArtPrize: Return to the Museum
Newsflash: Ryan's ArtPrize now a (semi)permanent exhibit at Grand Rapids Public Museum
If you missed your chance to see my ArtPrize work back in October at Grand Rapids Public Museum, now is your chance to view the work a second time around! As of yesterday, my six (6) museum-themed pieces are now on display in the Museum Cafe' for all museum visitors to enjoy!
I am very excited for the opportunity to partner with such a great organization, and am honored they are retaining the work for their permanent collection.
Crash Go Boom
So last night, I went to the Museum during the windstorm. This is the last week of ArtPrize and my work is still on display. Like many other ArtPrize artists learned, last night the winds placed their votes for ArtPrize. When I arrived, I was not expecting to see one of my ArtPrize pieces snapped from its wire and laying on the concrete face up. The frame took a hard smack on its side and the artwork will have to be re-stretched. There are scuffs all around the sides too, but the image surface is luckily fine. But its still a bummer! So I took the piece inside; the security office folks were nice enough to let me bring it in for the night, and then I went home. Today I found out that a second one fell in the night! Oh man, why didn't I see that coming? The winds were just so strong. Today I am going to the Museum to bring them all indoors for the remaining time for ArtPrize. I am lucky the front of the images are unhurt, it will just be a little pain to polish them back up.
Many people have been asking me "what are you going to do with your work now that ArtPrize is over?" And the truth is, I am not even sure myself. I had around 4 offers for individual pieces, but I ultimately want to first try and keep them together if possible. I am going to let the Museum have an opportunity as well.

Weekend Schedule
This Saturday from 10am - Noon, and then at 2pm-3pm I will be on-site at the Grand Rapids Public Museum painting watercolors for my visitors at my ArtPrize exhibit! Come see my ArtPrize entry and bring home an original one-of-a-kind watercolor painting made especially for you by Ryan! My books and music will also be on sale in the gift shop. I will also be hanging around informally on Friday night and part of the day Sunday.

A wise onion karate master once told me that. So the TOP 25 ArtPrize went right to my head, then I was holding steadily at TOP 50 for 48 hours, and now down to TOP 100... This weekend will be very important! I am honestly just grateful for all the great feedback I've seen. It is a great reminder that I am just happy and honored that Grand Rapids is receiving my work so well! Thanks Grand Rapids for all your support! Ryan's ArtPrize Sneak Peek

Voting begins on September 23rd, and I will be on location at the Grand Rapids Public Museum on that first Wednesday for opening night. Come down and say hello; I will be answering questions and doing sketches on location. You can register to vote in ArtPrize at the GRPM because it is an official registration point! ArtPrize Voting & Fan Preview
My big ArtPrize unveil is coming soon! The actual instalation will be viewable at the Grand Rapids Public Library close to the opening date of ArtPrize - the week of September 23rd. However, the "Ryan Hipp ArtPrize Preview" will be coming soon on this website (and artprize.org profile page) in the next week or so. Stay tuned!
I will be holding a fan preview to help get the images out there to potential voters. Stay tuned! Its going to be cool.
